What information do you collect about me?
In the HushBook app — nothing. HushBook has no accounts and no server. Your audiobooks, the word-level transcripts the HushBook Engine generates, your saved quotes, and all of your listening data (progress, goals, streaks, badges, your neuron score and your accessibility profile) are created and stored only on your device. Your audio never leaves your phone, and we never receive it. The app does not send us analytics, usage tracking or crash reports.
On this website, if you join the waitlist — when you submit the waitlist form we store:
- the email address you enter;
- the page you submitted from, your browser's user-agent, and the referring URL — basic context so we can understand where signups come from.
That's all. We don't use advertising trackers and we don't build a profile on you.
How do you use my information?
- The on-device data is used only to run the app's features on your phone.
- Your waitlist email is used only to email you about HushBook — chiefly to tell you it has launched and where to download it, plus the occasional important update before then.
- The signup context (page / referrer / user-agent) is used only to understand interest in HushBook.
Where is my waitlist email stored?
In a database hosted by Supabase. It is configured so that the public key this website uses can add a signup but can never read the list back — only we can, from a protected admin area. Duplicate signups are de-duplicated.
Will you send me emails?
Only if you joined the waitlist, and only about HushBook — the launch announcement and the occasional important update. No spam, and no third-party marketing.
Will you share or sell my information?
No. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
What third-party services does the app talk to?
Only when you ask it to, and HushBook adds no identifiers beyond what's needed to fetch the content:
- Speech-recognition models are downloaded from the model host when you set up on-device transcription.
- The free public-domain library is fetched from LibriVox and the Internet Archive when you browse or download titles.
Those requests are subject to those providers' own privacy practices.
Can I delete my information?
- App data: delete individual books, transcripts and quotes inside the app, reset analytics in settings, or uninstall the app to remove everything HushBook stored locally.
- Waitlist email: email us at privacy@hushbook.app and we'll remove you.
Can I have a copy of my information?
Your app data already lives on your device, in your control. For the waitlist email we hold, email privacy@hushbook.app and we'll send you a copy or confirm what we have.
Children's privacy
HushBook is not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal data and has no accounts, so it does not knowingly process children's personal information.
Will this Privacy Policy ever change?
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the app, our services or applicable law — but we will keep our commitment to keeping your data on your device. We'll post revisions here and update the date above; for material changes we'll also surface a notice in the app. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
