I kept losing the thread of audiobooks — drifting off, rewinding, never quite holding the words. So I built the player I wanted: one that shows every word as it's spoken, like karaoke, and lets me read along at my own pace. That's HushBook.
What HushBook believes
Privacy first
Transcription runs entirely on-device with the HushBook Engine. Your books and your listening stay on your phone — no account, no cloud, nothing we can read.
Accessibility first
Vision, Dyslexia and Comprehension profiles drive every default — fonts, caption sizes and colours — so the app fits you, not the other way round.
Your library, yours
Bring your own files and keep them local. The public-domain store is there when you want something new — free, forever.
Reading as a habit
Streaks, goals and a neuroscience-inspired score turn reading-along into something you actually keep coming back to.
Where it runs
HushBook is live on iOS and Android, launched together — free on the App Store and Google Play. Download it and read along with your next chapter.
Who builds HushBook
HushBook is a solo, indie project by Rakesh Aditya — a product manager based in Bengaluru. Across 3+ years in fintech, B2B SaaS and growth, I've shipped products end to end: discovery, delivery, and the messy middle in between. This one I'm building for myself — the read-along player I always wanted as a listener, made privacy- and accessibility-first from day one rather than bolted on later.
Say hello. Feedback, bug reports and book requests are all welcome — email aditya@hushbook.app.
