This Refund Policy explains how refunds work for purchases made in the HushBook mobile application ("HushBook", "we", "us", "our"). HushBook offers free features (including a read-along player and free public-domain content) and optional paid in-app purchases. This policy applies only to eligible paid in-app purchases and is subject to the refund rules of the platform through which you purchased (Apple App Store or Google Play). For questions, contact aditya@hushbook.app.
1. Definitions
- "Paid In-App Purchase" means any paid feature, add-on, upgrade, or subscription purchased within the HushBook app through the Apple App Store or Google Play (as applicable).
- "Purchase Date" means the date and time shown on your Apple/Google purchase receipt.
- "Platform" means Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on where you made the purchase.
2. Free features
HushBook's free features and free public-domain content are provided at no charge and are not refundable.
3. Refund process
Refunds for in-app purchases are processed and ultimately controlled by the Platform (Apple or Google). A refund request is not a guarantee of approval, and the Platform's rules and decision will apply.
4. How to request a refund
4.1 Apple App Store purchases. Apple processes payments and refunds for App Store purchases. To request a refund, use Apple's tool at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with the Apple ID used to make the purchase and follow the on-screen steps. Apple decides whether to approve a refund under its policies. If you need help locating the transaction details, email us at aditya@hushbook.app.
4.2 Google Play purchases. Google Play processes payments and refunds for Google Play purchases. You may request a refund through your Google Play account purchase history, and/or by emailing us at aditya@hushbook.app with your Google Play Order ID (and the email used for purchase, if different). Where permitted by Google Play rules, we will help you submit and support your refund request. Google Play decides whether to approve a refund under its policies.
5. What a refund includes
If a refund is approved, it will generally be returned to the original payment method used for the purchase. Any taxes, fees, currency conversion charges, or bank charges are handled according to the Platform's rules and your payment provider's terms.
6. Refund timing
Approved refunds are processed by the Platform and then your payment provider. Timing varies and may take several business days (and in some cases longer, depending on the bank or card provider).
7. Subscriptions
Where HushBook offers subscriptions, the following applies:
- Auto-renewal. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until cancelled. The title, price per period, billing frequency, and inclusions are shown on the in-app purchase screen before you buy; an annual plan is shown and billed at the annual price, not a monthly figure.
- Free trials. If a free trial or introductory offer is provided, it converts to a paid, auto-renewing subscription at the disclosed price unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time through your store account settings (iOS: Settings > your Apple Account > Subscriptions; Android: Play Store > Payments & subscriptions). Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal to avoid the next charge. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund the current billing period unless required by the Platform's rules or applicable law.
- Price changes. Subscription prices may change; where required, Apple or Google will notify you in advance and handle any consent before a new price applies.
- Refund requests. Refund requests for subscriptions (including renewals) are subject to Platform rules and approval.
- EEA/UK withdrawal. Statutory 14-day withdrawal rights, where they apply, are exercised through the store as merchant of record; for digital content supplied immediately with your consent, this right may not apply. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer rights.
Full subscription terms are set out in our Terms and shown on the in-app purchase screen before you buy.
8. Misuse, fraud, and policy violations
Refund requests may be denied where there is suspected fraud, misuse, repeated abuse of refund requests, or violation of Platform policies or our Terms.
9. Your legal rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any rights you may have under applicable law. Where mandatory legal rights apply, they will prevail to the extent of any inconsistency with this policy.
